Disk cleanup is a good way to remove all unnecessary files from your computer. First go to start menu and all programs. Then by clicking all programs, clicking accessories, clicking system tools, and then clicking disk cleanup. In the disk cleanup options a dialog box will appear, choose whether you want to clean up temporary files only or all of the files on the computer. To clean up old installs, you can click clean up the system files button on the bottom left corner. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. If the disk cleanup: drive selection dialog box appears, select the hard disk drive that you want to clean up, and then click OK. Click the disk cleanup tab, and then select the check boxes for the files you want to delete. When you finish selecting the files you want to delete, click OK, and then click delete files to confirm that the process finishes. Most people do not realize how easy it is to let someone take over there computer. A few tips to remember are clearing your cache and browsing temporary files and the operating system temporary files. You want to update your computer hardware as well as your browser. You can clear your temp files located under tools once you click tools then go to Internet options then on the general tab select delete and then you can select all the things that you want to delete. for computer files go to the start button and once you click on that, there is a search bar at the bottom of your expansion. Then type in %temp% this will display a temp file with plenty of unneeded files. These are temp files that will appear any time you load a program.
You can remove spyware, and help protect your computer from viruses. Spyware collects personal information without your permission and without you knowing. The happens from the websites you visit, spyware collects user names and passwords, spyware can put you and your confidential information at risk. In addition to privacy, spyware can corrupt your computer's performance. To protect yourself from spyware, Microsoft offers a program called live one care. I use Microsoft Security Essentials along with Mcafee free service from Adobe. Together these two help guard your system from viruses, spyware, adware, and malicious software (called malware). Microsoft Windows website offers updates which will help keep you protected. Mcafee helps you safely search the web as it highlights safe zone to visit , and it helps remove any infection found. Temporary Internet files take the most amount of space because the browser caches each page you visit for faster access later. Disk fragmentation slows the performance of your computer and is a easy tool to use. When files are fragmented, the computer must search the hard drive to locate files and match them so they can run together. The response time can be make your computer run slower and take longer to complete a task. Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragment can help the performance of your computer, you can check the integrity of the files stored on your hard disk by running the Error Checking utility. Bad sectors slow down hard disk performance and sometimes make data writing really bad. The Error Checking utility scans the hard drive for bad sectors and scans for file errors to see whether certain files or folders are misplaced or bad. If you use your computer daily, you should run this utility once a week to help prevent data loss.
